Bridget "Bridie" Nixon, deceased as of 21:30 7th February 2008. Goodbye, Nanny. We love you, and we miss you, and we're all so, so glad that you're with Jimmy now, at long last. The people who loved you most were by your side in the end, and I think you knew it. Words cannot say how grateful we are for you, for the three generations of daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that now stand in the world all because of you and grandda - we've you to thank for our lives. And your son, whom we never knew, whom they took away for the simple colour of his skin and the cast of his father, we will find him, and he will know his mother was a woman who endured so much, whom he could only be proud of. Because I know I am. And I'm sorry I never got to tell you all that. Thank you so much for hanging in there those hours I spent alone at your bedside. I will never forget that night I got to spend with you by myself, and I can't think of a greater gift. I love you so much, and I'm so happy you're at peace. Give grandda a kiss for me.

"Goodnight, God bless."

Thank you sweetheart . . . That means a lot to me. *hug* I'm sorry I've been a little scarce of late, it's just . . . I'm finding it a little hard to think right now. Tom loaned me his internet to cheer me up a bit and I've just been floating around online trying to . . . take my mind off things, I guess. At least her funeral gave me a chance to get some of the bad stuff out of my system . . . but you never can anticipate how much something like this can totally knock the legs right out from under you, can you? *sigh*

ah I can imagien it kind of..my father's in hospital again too...luckily nothing serious but "only" annoying.

would you deem it a suitable cheer-up if I sent you a live recording of "Tales from the Secret Forest"?

me again...I hope you are relatively "all right" (as one can be under the circumstances). I heard today that my father will possibly have to have surgery in the near future. I'll save the gory details, luckily it seems to be nothing too bad.

To take your mind off things....do you maybe know what "The Fairy's Ceili" is in Irish? I need it to label a song. *g*

If you need somebody to talk to, you know how to reach me, hun!

Re: Irishdancer
Oh, no . . . I hope your father'll be okay! Is it bad? You say not too serious though, so that sounds good . . .

No, I've never heard of the Fairies Ceili . . . And I can't watch that video you sent me either . . . My computer's been infected by some stupid ass trojan horse that won't let me access youtube - in fact, as soon as I type it in the address bar, internet explorer shuts down on me and I get this smartass message that reads, literaly - youtube is banned. The administrator did not write this program, guess who did? Muahaha!

D:<

It even comes complete with this lame-ass "Muahahaaa!" sound effect! DX The freaking cheek!! *furious* Some l33t asshole needs to get a life and stop pissing innocent strangers off. I have no idea what hackers get out of this, it's just plain meanness. Virtual bullies . . . *rant*

Have you ever heard "Ripples in the Rockpools" though? It's about Grace O' Malley the Irish Pirate Queen . . . Absolutely gorgeous piece. You should mention it to your instructors. You're still taking part in that class aren't you?

It's . . . still a little hard to talk about, sweetheart, but thanks for the offer. My grandad's immemorium was printed in the papers today - anniversary of his death - and it mentioned his wife as "recently deceased Bridie Nixon" Hard to look at that in print in broad daylight in the middle of a supermarket. Kind of brings it home, if you know what I mean. Makes it that much more real.

Re: Irishdancer
Hi,

Well, I spoke to my mum yesterday and she said that the doc said that he'll have to have his belly cut open because of some polyps (benign!) they can't get out otherwise. :(

I know this isn't a traditional piece of music. I think I expressed myself wrongly...The matter is this: I and the friend of a friend recorded a concert of John & Maite on Sunday night via web stream during which 2 unnamed songs appear. Her and I agreed to label one of the unknown songs (for lack of a better title) "The Fairies' Ceili" or rather "The Fairies' Jig" (it's in jig time) and now my poor sleep-deprived brain sired the idea of giving this song the name in Irish. That's why I'm asking what the Irish translation might be for this.

:( noo your computer got a virus! ickh! I hope you can get rid of that "muhahahaha" thing, it sounds pretty annoying. Can you get at least Firefox to work?

hmm. no I never heard of that song, although I have heard about Grace O'Malley. ^_^ I will mention it to my instructors in Irish Dance class esp, now that the class feis (w/ THE Olive Hurley as adjucator!) is coming up in April.

Aii I can imagine! *hug* Take your time with it, I won't pressure you. Just wanna say I'm here if you ever need me!

Did that Arjuna fic author ever turn up again? She removed all her stuff from ff.net.

Re: Irishdancer
Ah, so ka . . . Polyps, huh? Well, that's not too bad, then, if they're benign . . . I've heard they're painful, though.

Sorry hon, 'fraid I wouldn't know the translation for that. You should check that myths and legends book I sent you, it might be a handy reference. I couldn't come up with much online, either . . .

Yes, virus! DX< I don't have firefox, cos I'xe barely enough memory left on my computer for anything else in any case! XD

Awwwwww *hugs you back* I know, sweetie, and thank you so, so much for being so supportive. I haven't had to deal with a death in a long time and I'm finding it a little hard . . .

O.o Really?? No, actually, I haven't heard from her since. *shuffles off to check the profile*

. . . Huh? *stares at screen* Well that's just . . . weird. o.o All this fuss about this epic fic and now she just . . . disappears? Strange person . . .

Re: Irishdancer
well, can't say if my father had pain but what he sure had was bleeding (that's why my mum took him to the ER the Sunday before last).

No problem, I'll research that name elsewhere (and I'll find it) *g* :)

XD urgh that's bad. Can you download any free virus scanners so that the virus is killed? Else you would have to reset the whole computer and I somehow doubt that's what you want at present. :S

Strange person, yeah. I was myself just staring at the screen like O_o and wondering what was going on. sheesh..there sure are strange people in the world.

But now to something really positive: today a registered BIG letter came in and guess what it contained? my UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA! Finally I am a DI(FH) - and miracle oh miracle: my thesis turnd out to be a 2 (that'd be a B). Talk about interesting ideas when it comes to grading. *tsk*
