... Three days later, and the cable is STILL out at my house, so I'm sitting here at D&W after work mooching the free wireless again. I hope this doesn't last too much longer, or I'm going to have a heck of a time getting the next Slayers episode to translate, since according to the bandwidth test I did, the download speed here is only about 15K/sec ("high speed" internet my foot).

Author's Note: This little fic was competed for the prompt "Ribbon" which was flung at me by Mizz Thang, otherwise known as tomoeishin exchange for marshmallow-related . . . dealings . . . Ahem. So here you have it.

You might notice, however, the word Ribbon doesn't actually feature. It's not a typo. I tried three different ways to go about the ribbon prompt actually, but the first two fell flat on me. I had physical (which became phaily ribbon bondage), descriptive (which involved a hot spring and sodden silver hair compared to ribbons . . . blah) and then I had metaphorical. What came to mind very quickly was an image I came across once on a Japanese fansite - a picture of a slightly older Rin, thirteen or fourteen perhaps, overlaid across a picture of Sesshomaru with Tenseiga. She appeared to be sleeping, and her wrists were bound together, like her ankles, with red ribbons. It got the wheels in my head turning, what can I say. If I can find the link, I'll stick 'im in here.

So, Slayers aired last night, and it was awesome. I just finished translating the first episode this morning, and it was a pain in the butt. The characters are as unintelligible as I remember them from 10 years ago when I couldn't even understand Japanese. And now that I can understand Japanese, I still can't understand them. ^_^* They all talk so fast and mumbly. x__X

And to top things off, we lost our internet around 8 last night and it's still not back (I'm currently in the cafe at D&W on my laptop before my shift). Stupid storm. Though it was a pretty awesome storm. There was lightning everywhere and a bunch of stuff near us got hit. We never lost power, but apparently the ISP did. ^_^* According to our rain gage, we got two inches of rain out of it, too.

Well, it's that time of year- the Summer time Sate of Emotional Blues.
I'm low key, not very happy, and just somewhat frustrated. So all I do is work work work hoping that it will somehow miraculously make things better.
Maybe it will, more likely it won't- becuase the big picture isn't being solved, and I'm just not capable of fixing it.
But at least it keeps me distracted. :)

Creatures and Star Wars
So here's the specs- I'm doing some creature creation under the guise of "Star Wars" for shits and giggles. More like, I've been taking a mix of old, new, and canon characters and making model sheets for them and after maybe a couple of pics. I wanted to feel like I still have a "character design" edge to me.
Thing is, I need pictures of the space battles in SW. I have a few form AOTC, and a slew of character images, but I need locations- specifically color oriented ones, but space battles are also welcome. Anyone have? Know of a good place?

Red Deer Skin Crafts
Next, I have a red-deer skin I'll be making into crafts in the next little bit. And by that, I mean I might start as early as tomorrow. I'll be making a medallion, and then a slip-cover for a sketchbook. I'll be selling them (so anyone want dibs on a commission, or a specific idea now can get their order in), as well as taking commissions for more- for as long as I have this skin.
I have plenty of Cow and Black Buffalo- and soon to acquire the typical yellow deer skin- but this is one GORGEOUS color, and worth getting somehting unique done with it!
I'll be doing a pryography number on the skins, and perhaps some color (inks).

So that sums it up. Hopefully I'll be able to do a lot of crafts. I am in the mood for a different kind of labor. :)
